The Cavaliers, ranked No. 1 in the state by The News Journal, shut out No. 4 William Penn to improve to 2-0.

Middletown quarterback Drew Fry threw three touchdown passes, Kedrick Whitehead ran for a score, and the Cavaliers' defense clamped down on the Colonials in a 29-0 victory Saturday.

Fry connected with Nick Johnston on a nine-yard score, with Larry Griffin on a 42-yard TD, and with Esaias Guthrie for a 47-yard scoring strike.

Meanwhile, Whitehead raced 68 yards for another touchdown for the Cavs.

On defense, Alexis Green intercepted a William Penn pass in the end zone as the Colonials were driving for a score when the Cavs led 16-0.

Johnston also had an interception for Middletown, which improved to 2-0.

The Cavs are ranked No. 1 in the state by The News Journal. William Penn, a tournament team from a year ago, came into the game ranked No. 4.
