Appo took a 1-0 lead after one inning, when Autumn Gentry walked with the bases loaded, forcing in the game’s first run. The Lady Jags would add onto their lead in the third thanks to an RBI single by Madeline Olivas.

Caravel would get back into the lead when Natalie Paoli singled home the Lady Bucs first run of the game in the third. Later in the inning, Caravel would take the lead 3-2 off of two sacrifice flies by Maddie Beres and Nikki Marvin.

In the fourth, Appo would retake the lead after and RBI single by Brooke Miller and bases loaded walks forced by Gentry and Olivas, giving the Lady Jags a 5-3 advantage heading into the sixth inning.

After a scoreless sixth, Appo opened the top of the seventh with an insurance run when Madison Bauerle singled home a run to make in 6-3 Lady Jags.

Appo would need the insurance run because in the bottom half of the seventh, Caravel rallied, cutting the Lady Jags’ lead to just a run, but Appo was able to survive.

The Lady Jags move onto the DIAA Girls Softball State Championship Game taking on No. 2 Smyrna who advanced on Thursday passed No. 11 Charter School of Wilmington.

Saturday’s title game is scheduled for at Noon at Roxana Little League.
