The Cavaliers, seeded seventh, will face second-seeded Padua Thursday, Nov. 8 at Caravel.

The Middletown High School field hockey team has qualified for the Division I state tournament with a 10-4-1 record.

The DIAA State Field Hockey Committee met today and set the brackets for the Division I tournament for schools with larger enrollments and the Division II tourney for schools with smaller enrollments.

The Cavaliers are seeded seventh in the eight-team Division I tournament and will play second-seeded Padua (14-1) Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m., at Caravel.

Here are the rest of the quarterfinal match-ups Nov. 8:

#1 Cape Henlopen (14-1) hosts #8 Smyrna (9-5-1), 4 p.m.

#3 Charter School of Wilmington (11-4) hosts #6 Concord (11-4), 2:30 p.m.

#4 Polytech (12-3) hosts #5 Sussex Tech (11-3-1), 2:30 p.m.

If Middletown defeats Padua in the first round, the Cavaliers will play the winner of #3 Charter/#6 Concord in the semifinals Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Rullo Stadium at the University of Delaware.

The finals are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16, also at Rullo Stadium.

During the regular season, Middletown didn't face Padua. The Cavaliers lost to Charter 3-1 and lost to Concord 1-0.
