The Appoquinimink High School boys basketball team kept a long winning streak going on Thursday night, knocking off Middletown in an overtime thriller, 50-45.

The opening quarter ended in a 10-10 stalemate, but at halftime the Cavaliers had gained a one-point advantage, leading 19-18.

After three quarters, it was Appo’s turn to take a one-point lead, outscoring the Cavs 14-12 in the third stanza to lead 32-31 heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth, both teams kept pace and the game headed to overtime tied at 42-42.

During the overtime period, Appo outscored Middletown 8-3 to walk away with the five-point victory.

The win is the seventh in a row for the Jaguars, who improve to 8-4 on the season. They’re back in action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. hosting Mt. Pleasant.

Meanwhile, Middletown drops their third game in a row, falling to 6-4 on the year. The Cavaliers look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host William Penn at 6:15 p.m.
